Relaxation

This Preksha technique originated almost 30 years ago in India with the blessings of two great Saints: Ganadhipati Gurudev Sri Tulsi and Acharya Sri Mahapragya. Today it is widely practiced in India and abroad. The two great saints have truly blessed the entire human race with the boon of Preksha Meditation.

Preksha Dhyana is a holistic approach towards life. It is a new invention in the field of meditation based on the ancient wisdom of Lord Mahaveera and is for the benefit of humanity. It helps at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. It is very simple technique that is easy to learn and practice. It helps improve the way we undertake our daily activities and modifies attitudes and develops positive thinking. Preksha means to see or perceive deeply inside and the practice of this meditation system make the mind calm and quiet. The purification of the conscious mind helps to give a feeling of peace and bliss. It dissolves the karmic bondage, purifies the self and helps to reach the ultimate goal of Self-realization. So the main aim of Preksha Meditation is Self-realization and through this process we are automatically freed from misery, diseases and mental disorders.

Technique of Preksha Meditation
There are three pre-requisites to get into the meditation. These are:

To steady the body
 To calm the mind
 To bring noble silence

In order to practice Preksha Meditation one has to follow certain preconditions regarding the physical disciplines. These are:

PRECONDITIONS
1. Precondition A: Sitting in the appropriate posture
2. Precondition B: Adopting a mudra with eyes closed
3. Precondition C: Recitation of Mahaprana Dhvani or the Arham Mantra

Precondition A:
Sitting in an appropriate posture. Posture is an important feature for the successful practice of meditation. A person can sit either in a simple posture or a lotus posture. If this is not possible one can sit in a chair keeping the back straight.
In all postures keep the spinal column, head and neck in a straight line with the eyes softly closed, lips together, teeth apart with the tongue hanging in between.

A. Keeping the palms facing upward, place the left hand below the right keeping the thumbs together.
B. Right hand on right knee and left hand on the left knee, both palm facing upward. Index fingers touching the roots of thumbs with a slight pressure in the contact, the other fingers are kept straight.

Precondition C:
Recitation of Mahaprana Dhvani in which you inhale deeply concentrating your attention in your head. Keep your lips together softly and produce a humming sound without any interruption for as long as possible.
